Weigh Overrated

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thyre @ 8:03 pm

As some of you know last weekend I went to the open tryouts for the West Coast Lightning, women’s tackle football. I’ll have a little show and tell for you in a bit.

What I’d first like to share is something that happens all the time that I just have to address one more time. It’s about people being obsessed with the number on the scale.

My aunt decided she was going to come down to watch and support me during the tryouts, so we picked her up on the way down to Temecula.

She had just gotten in from church and had just enough time to run through the Carls Jr drive through and change out of her fancy schmancy church clothes. As she settles in her seat and handles a fist full of French fries she asks me, “How come I’m not losing any weight?”

Now I know what you’re thinking right now and that’s part of what I was thinking but as they say on infomercials, “BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!!”

She continues, “people keep asking me how much weight I lost but that scale says NONE.” Again this is said between bites of a cheeseburger dripping with “secret sauce” but NO BUN cuz carbs are da debil (in my best Kathy Bates from The Waterboy)

Through some dialog I was able to find out that she looks smaller and her clothes are a bit looser (hence people asking about weight loss) but the actual number on the scale is no different. You and I both got the obvious, probably shouldn’t eat junk like Carliees (pronounced Carl eee’s, yeah that’s what I call it so what), but to be honest if it’s only once a month or so it’s not that big a deal.

Anyway we talked a little more and I tried to explain that the actual number isn’t that important in the overall scheme of things, but that its value lies in measuring. She would have none of that!

She pleaded with me that it didn’t matter that she was in a size smaller and had more energy and stamina because that “scale want budge not even 1 pound!”

You already know Im a Lakers fan (probably shouldn’t admit it after the start they had, but hey it is what it is) and she is too, so we talked about the Preseason game at Citizens that she went to last month.

She commented on how skinny new center Dwight Howard is. So I said, “Yeah but he weighs like 265!” and she answers “No, you didn’t see how tiny he is, I thought he was a big guy”.

And again I repeated, “But he weighs 265, that’s a lot, 265 is heavy!” You’re smart you know where I’m going with this right…well don’t spoil it for those that don’t, keep your smarty pants answers to yourself.

She says, “Yeah 265 is a big number, BUT he’s really small, it looks like he doesn’t weigh much at all.”

To which I replied, “BINGO!”

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying to throw your scale away and never give a second thought to that number ever again…I’m just saying when you only rely on it, it’s not the best way to measure your health and fitness level.

Just had to talk about that since it happened again. I will be back tomorrow after I edit the footage of the tryout so you can see how in my opinion I’ve “aged” athletically.

But here’s a sneak peek:

Turkey Belly Burnoff

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thyre @ 8:05 pm

You are probably aware that Halloween is fast approaching in just a week and before you know it Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here.

You may or may not know that during the holiday season between Halloween and New Years the average person gains around  5-10 pounds! Weight that they never lose again. That adds up big time over the years!

You already know.

Well you don’t have to be one of the average statistics. You can get a jump on holiday weight gain right now with the first annual  “Turkey Belly Burnoff Transformation Challenge.” This is a 3 week program that runs from first week of November right through Thanksgiving.

Don’t be average. Don’t be a statistic. Definitely don’t wait until January to start a program like everyone else.  (Your friends will likely gain 5-10 pounds of fat during the holiday season and start trying to lose it in January.)

Get ahead of the masses now!

In my almost 10 years in this industry I have seen it every single year. People come to me in January plagued with the feeling of regret because they didn’t start sooner.

Save yourself the pain of regret and do something for yourself, you will definitely be glad that you did.

Here’s more info on the challenge: You are going to get 3 training sessions each week with me in a group setting over the 3 weeks for just $89. You will also get a simple nutrition plan and food list to keep you on track.

FYI, this is a group personal training program 😉    (not a bootcamp)

Anyway, this program has a total value of $219 so not only are you getting a jumpstart to your health and fitness you are saving a ton of money!

Aint nothing wrong with that.

Ok, I have a limited amount of space in my sessions so if you would like to get in on the “Turkey Belly Burnoff Program, change your body, and avoid the holiday pounds that all of your friends are going to pack on then call me at 909-702-5615 to reserve a spot.

Remember, it is only $89 for the entire 3 week training program that will run right up to Turkey Day.

Just call 909-702-5615 to let me know that you want in.

Talk to you soon,

Tye

Football and Virginity

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thyre @ 10:36 pm

You’re right I probably shouldn’t be sharing this via the internet, but it’s true I’m no longer a Virgin of the Drive-In movie. Over the past couple of  weeks I’ve seen Total Recall, The Expendables 2, and ParaNorman. I love the movies, but have never been to a drive in.

It was so cool. I don’t know why, but it was. Before I forget, and believe me I’m trying, the remake of Total Recall was not very good IMO. I think I should just stick to seeing movies randomly instead of actually wanting to see them.

The new Amazing Spider-man was lacking, Total Recall was a bust and the Expendables was (dare I say it) “cute”. It seems like when I want to see a movie it doesn’t live up to the hype.

What do you think I should see next?

On a completely random note, I was watching football and decided that I wanted to play. I looked it up online (and if you know me I’m always looking something up online) and found out that there is a Women’s Pro Football league that has over 60 teams across the nation. Pretty crazy huh?

So California has about 5-6 teams and one of them is in Murrieta, CA. The website says tryouts are in 5 weeks. I’ve told a few people about it and for some strange reason nobody will talk me out of it.

I will keep you posted about that. First I have to check to see if the info on the website is correct (secretly Im hoping its wrong and I missed my chance…Im too old for football) then I will decide officially what to do.

What position do you think I should play? Or if you think Im too old to be playing football let me know in the comments below or on the Facebook page.

And that’s that said the cat in the hat.

To Greek or Not To Greek

So have you seen the commercial where Olympic Gold Medalist Jennie Finch brings Greek yogurt as the post game snack for her sons baseball team. And the kids love it… the yogurt, that is. But have you ever thought to yourself, “Is Greek yogurt that much better than regular yogurt?”

Both Greek and regular yogurt, in their plain nonfat or low-fat forms , can be part of a healthful diet. Greek yogurt is strained extensively to remove much of the liquid whey, lactose, and sugar, giving it its thick consistency. In roughly the same amount of calories, Greek yogurt can pack up to double the protein, while cutting sugar content by half.

In a typical Greek yogurt, a typical 6-ounce serving contains 15 to 20 grams of protein while an identical serving of regular yogurt provides just 9 grams. When it comes to the carbs, Greek contains roughly half the carbs as the regular kind – 5 to 8 grams per serving compared with 13 to 17 for regular yogurt.

However, the Greek yogurt tends to be higher in fat than regular yogurt. In just 7 ounces, Fage’s full-fat Greek yogurt packs 16 grams of saturated fat while Dannon’s regular full-fat yogurt has 5 grams of saturated fat in an 8-ounce serving. Also, regular yogurt has more calcium than Greek yogurt because some of the calcium is lost during the straining process.

So, the final evaluation? Pick the one you like ( like Greek), and look for plain, non-fat or low fat varieties.

Be sure you’re on the newsletter list for an upcomming letter about whether or not the Fat you eat is making you fat..
spoiler alert…
ITS NOT (necessarily)

Lose 20 In 12 In 2012

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thyre @ 7:37 am

Hey gang we are fast approaching summer and if you want to get your best body by the 4th of July weekend then I’ve got a deal for you…

All the fitness training will be done in the Rancho Cucamonga gym. The workout classes are about an hour in length and held three times a week. Each class is a full body workout consisting of exercise circuits (warm up, core, strength, conditioning, special surprises and a cool down).

The training circuits we do in our Rancho Cucamonga gym include different exercises which prevents your body from reaching a plateau and helps your body develop specific adaptations from the different forms of training used – balance, flexibility, strength, conditioning, speed, agility, quickness, etc.

Our Rancho Cucamonga personal trainers are here to help you lose 20 Pounds in 12 weeks.

BUT THERE’S BAD NEWS…

I can only take 12-15 NEW people! We don’t have a huge commercial mega-gym, our Rancho Cucamonga gym is personal (translated small). This IS NOT some fake “act now” and then you see the same thing everyday for the next 6 months. There is a definite end date to registration, which is May 12th, and there is literally only space enough for 12-15 people in the gym.

If You Are Serious About Getting Full of Energy, Strong, and Toned…

Call 626-826-0684 or email admin@TrainingByTye.com to register today!

3 Steps for Added Weight Loss

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thyre @ 9:58 am

Here’s some info I found that might be helpful to you:

Most everyone is looking to lose weight.

However, as you and most people have found out, it is harder to lose weight today than it was 60 years ago.

In fact, 60 years ago, all you needed to do was add in some activity and make small changes to your diet, and you could see the fat melt away.

Today is a different time and weight loss just isn’t that easy anymore.

One reason why weight loss is harder today is because your fat cells may be toxic.

Simply put, toxic fat cells are sick fats.  They are unable to release powerful hormones which help you lose weight, or your fat cells are resistant to these hormones.

This could be due to a number of different things.

Faster Workout Recovery

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thyre @ 9:13 pm

The best way to see optimal results from your fitness training workout is by making sure that you’re getting a good rate of recovery between each and every workout session that you do. Let me share with you the easiest recovery strategy that you can begin to utilize today.
You can use to help enhance the recovery that you see from workouts by stretching. Stretching is a great technique for reducing post-workout soreness and can also put you into a calmer state.
You will want to execute a stretching routine daily for best results, as it’s something that you have to work at with a high frequency level for it to be effective.

You dont have to be this flexible, but it would be nice!

Make sure that you perform stretches for all your major body parts and hold each stretch that you perform for at least 30 seconds for best results.
The good news about this is that if you increase your flexibility as well, that will help you perform better in the workout sessions that you do complete. Alright so start a daily stretching routine today!
