Salmon Recipe By Prince

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thyre @ 9:43 pm

Woof…Hey there, this is Prince Charming, but you can call me Prince everyone does (well that and Puppy Bear and Papa).  My human is Tye from Training By Tye (I call her Momma2, cuz she isn’t my real mom).

Finished, gotta turn it off before anyone finds me!

Anyway she’s been pretty busy this week putting together the New Years promotions so I am going to present you with MY famous salmon recipe:

Balsamic and Rosemary Grilled Salmon

 2 (4 ounce) salmon fillets

sea salt to taste

1-1/2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar

1-3/4 tablespoon olive oil

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1/2 clove garlic, minced

1/2 sprig fresh rosemary, minced

Directions

1.        Season salmon fillets to taste with sea salt, and place into a shallow, glass dish. Whisk together vinegar, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and rosemary; pour over salmon fillets. Cover, and refrigerate at least 30 minutes.

2.        Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat, and lightly oil grate.

3.        Remove salmon from marinade, and shake off excess. Discard remaining marinade. Cook on preheated grill until fish is opaque in the center and flakes easily with a fork, about 4 minutes per side.

Healthy Not Skinny

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thyre @ 10:14 pm

I just had to share this with you. It makes me so upset to hear, I just cant believe it.  I overheard some say that a person who walked by was healthy BECAUSE they were “skinny”.

First off, I don’t know if I told you before, but I despise the word skinny, but that’s a whole other Oprah episode. I want to go on record saying that just because someone is thinner than someone else DOES NOT make someone healthy.

As a matter of fact I did a little impromptu boot camp in my housing community a while back and there was a woman who was quite thin outside of a bit of belly fat (she just had a baby). During the 25 warm-up jumping jacks she had to catch her breath twice, she could not do more than 4 skull crushers with 5-pound dumbbells and pushups, fuggetaboutit!!

All I kept thinking was “how is she holding her 15-20 pound baby, if she can’t lift 10 lbs of perfectly contoured and symmetrical dumbbells?”  BTW I had a client (50 year old) at 260lbs that could run a mile in under 10 minutes.

Health is more than just having a small waisteline!

Have you ever thought that, what do you think? Answer here or on facebook.

Halloween Costumes

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thyre @ 10:11 pm

What are you going to be for Halloween? How about FIT!

Oh Halloween good times and great memories, huh. What’s the best costume that you have seen, and what was/is your favorite costume that you have worn?

You already know there are only a few weeks to get ready before the big night. When you are making changes especially in regards to your health and fitness you really have to make changes gradually over time until they become positive habits leading to more energy and fat loss.

If you have more energy…

You can get more work done in the same amount of time – but with much less effort and less fatigue; your head is clearer so you do better work and have better ideas; and lastly, you have more confidence and can take bolder actions with less risk like trying to fit into a superhero costume.

Amidst all of the snake oil peddling and complete nonsense being sold out there as quick fixes for your health, there’s a pretty large and legitimate body of knowledge we have amassed that is almost universally agreed upon as having a huge impact on your health, energy, and of course fat loss!

Why do so many diet books and fad health solutions tell you that their way is the only way? But we know, of course when someone states that their way is the only way that kind of teaching is more about salesmanship than it is about truth.

We have to understand that everyone is different, and what works for you may not work for your best friend. Do you think that if a diet worked perfectly for everyone there would be more than 2000 of them? There would just be one right?

Well technically there is, eat real whole foods and not too much! Even with that, some people are allergic or sensitive to certain foods.  So just be aware that what works for others may or may not work for you.

Here is 1 universal truth and/or habit that you should adopt over the next 21 days:

Chew and Be Aware

Chew every bite of food you put in your mouth 30 times before swallowing. Focus your attention on what effect the food you are eating is going to have on your body. Does it have a dense caloric value? How much of it do you actually need? What benefit is it giving your body? Think about that as you chew and just be aware.

The actual number of chews doesn’t matter so much as the result. You want every bite to be liquefied completely. After you get in the habit of counting to thirty chews the act of liquefying your food may become automatic and at which point you can stop counting. However, it is a good idea to count until you complete your 21 days.

And it‘s really that simple.

This and a few other habits I will share with you over the next few weeks are going to be the closest we can get to a universal set of rules that will lead to fat loss and boost anyone‘s energy.

Don’t forget, real change takes time.

Despite the fact that there are many quick-fix marketers out there that will tell you just about anything to sell you their fat burners, magic potions, and silly gadgets, believe it or not fat loss is relatively simple (once you realize its hard), but it is still going to be a gradual process.

So, what are you going to be for Halloween? Tell us below

Black Friday Transformation Contest

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thyre @ 5:36 pm

If you could lose weight and get paid for it, would you?

Hey gang, in honor of the newest season of Biggest Loser (which I am a huge fan of) I’m going to run a transformation contest.

It will go for 6 weeks and we will see who changes the most. The contest is open to both current and to new members. While I would love to have everyone join, I just don’t have the room.

So I’ve decided to split everyone up into 3 teams. We will have a red team, a white team and blue team. We only have room to add 4-6 new people to each team.

The winner will walk away with CASH! Not to mention the winning team will get a fun party.

The program includes 6 weeks of training 3 days a week, a meal plan showing you exactly what to eat and when, personalized fat melting cardio plan, and support from your team.

The contest will run Oct. 10th through Nov. 19th, just in time for you to show off the new you for Thanksgiving.

HOW WILL YOU SPEND YOUR WINNINGS? WHAT WILL YOU BUY FIRST?

If you are interested and committed to finally reaching your fitness goals, then give me a call at (626) 826-0684 or enter your name, email, phone number and best time to call to set up your interview through the contact page here.

Old Folks, Cops & Walking

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thyre @ 4:21 pm

So yesterday I went to Subway, and as I came out there was a little old lady and her husband walked up to a parking enforcement officer just as he was writing out a ticket for the car.

The older man says, “Can’t you help out a senior citizen?” and the officer barely looks up but continues to write out the ticket. So the lady calls him a colorful name, and the officer sticks the ticket on the windshield and writes another for worn out tires.

This time dude pelts him with a plethora of profanity and the officer continues to find reasons to cite the car. After about 3 minutes of this I thought this is so not happening, then the old couple looks up and sees the shuttle bus for the assisted living pulling in.

They laughed and smiled at each other as they got on the bus back to the retirement home. Hahaha

Anyway I want to give you a couple of pointer for walking properly for fitness (I was reminded of this because of the way some old people kinda shuffle along).

When you are power walking, keep the top of your head up and your shoulders back like a proud soldier.

Walk so that your heel touches the ground first, then roll your weight forward.

Be sure to swing your arms and keep them bent naturally at the elbow as you walk; this will increase intensity.

And lastly, when you are power walking for fitness be sure to warm up by starting a slower pace, then increase your pace and even add a hill to increase intensity. Finish with a cool down by walking slower again. Cooling down allows the heart rate and muscles to return to normal.

So get out there and walk; properly, often, and with intensity!

Burgers and Football

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thyre @ 4:34 pm

Summer’s almost over but there is still plenty of sunlight to get out in the yard and throw something on the grill. Here’s what I’m eating tonight while watching the Bears Giants game: Juicy Asian Burger and a Peanut butter Chocolate Shake.

I hear you saying, “How can that be good for you?” My answer, it is if you do it right.

– 1 pound ground turkey

– minced onion

– minced green and red bell pepper

– crushed garlic

– chopped parsley or cilantro

– pepper

– fresh grated ginger

– 2 tablespoons Worcestershire

– 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce

Mix all the ingredients together in a big bowl; divide the mixture into thirds and make 3 thick burger patties.

You can grill these or you could even make them in a skillet (just use a little cooking spray), just cook until they are done the way you like it. Now you can just put the turkey patty in/on a salad, or you can opt for the tomatoes, onions, and pickles but wrap it in lettuce instead of using a hamburger bun (my favorite option).

Now on to that delicious delicious shake.

– ¼ cup of ice cubes

– 6 oz. of water

– 1 Scoop of chocolate protein powder

– 1 tablespoon of organic all natural no salt added peanut butter

Mix it well in a blender and enjoy! It totally taste like a Reese’s peanut butter cup. Please enjoy this drink responsibly. There are about 100 calories in the peanut butter and usually 250 for the protein powder.

But hey as a once every other weekend treat its one that does have to break the nutrition bank. So give ‘em a try tonight or tomorrow, come back and let me know what you think.

Bon appetit,

T

By finding out how many calories you need and then noting what and how much food you take in each day, especially in terms of calories, you will be able to figure out how much you would need to eat each day to be able to lose weight more effectively.

Calories In Tea

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thyre @ 9:41 pm

I will be honest with you, it amazes me that people believe that only eating once per day is healthy. They think that “I’ll just eat a few bites, I don’t want to over eat” and then proceed to have a hand in the cookie jar every 45 minutes.

I don’t know where we got this notion that any thing you can find in the grocery store check out line doesn’t count toward your calories for the day.  Do you know approximately how many calories you’re supposed to have each day?

Let me tell you a story, stop me if you know this:

So Brenda is sitting in her office as Gina walks by with a giant  hyoooooge cup from Wendy’s.

So naturally Brenda says, “watcha got?”
Gina happily replies, ”the new Wildberry Tea, its really good.” Brenda shrugs and says, “sounds like a lot of calories to me?”
Obviously Brenda knows about calories and that drinking your calories is a waste. Anyway back to the story.

So Gina smiles smugly and declares, “its 300 calories, that’s what it said on the menu.” Now she said this knowing that she hadn’t a clue about calories.

Before we move on I want to make it perfectly clear that your MEAL (as in the whole thing) should be about 400-600 calories depending on how many meals per day as well as how many calories per day based on your weight, age, and activity level.

Brenda’s eyes get big and she shouts, “300, that’s freakin’ outrageous!” Gina sheepishly replies, “oh is that a lot, maybe it said 30?”

What in tar nation! I’m glad you know the difference between 30 calories and 300 calories. Just to put it in perspective a Chick-fil-A Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich with a small Fruit Cup and Unsweetened Iced Tea is just over 300 calories (about 330).

UmmmHmmm I know me too, I would rather eat the sandwich. Meanwhile you know what 30 calories is a cup of cherry tomatoes. Boooooo on that!

So anyway come to find out that the value size tea is 35 not the gigantor one she got which is actually about 150 calories and 30 grams of sugar.

Let this be a lesson to us all, know what goes in your body. Do you know anybody who is calorie illiterate?

AND EAT YOUR CALORIES FOR PETE’s SAKE!!!  🙂
